GFA to Reward Premier League Clubs with GHC1 Million and Cash Prizes Based on Final League Position – Kurt Okraku

President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Edwin Simeon Okraku, has announced that each club in the Ghana Premier League will receive GHC1 million in financial support ahead of the upcoming season.

This major boost, he explained, has been made possible through a new strategic partnership between the GFA and Adesa Production Limited (APL).

Speaking at the official launch of the GFA-APL partnership for the Ghana Premier League, Mr. Okraku reiterated the association’s commitment to transforming local football, promising improved player welfare and a more competitive and attractive league.

“As part of our efforts to rebrand and revitalize the Premier League, this partnership will ensure that our clubs are financially supported and our players are well taken care of,” he said. “We want to reduce the number of players leaving the country in search of greener pastures. Player welfare will be at the heart of this new chapter.”

The GFA President further revealed that, under the partnership, clubs will also receive performance-based rewards at the end of the season, depending on their final position on the league table—a move aimed at boosting competitiveness and professionalism.

Mr. Okraku expressed optimism that the new deal will breathe new life into Ghana’s domestic league and restore its glory days.
