A 23-year-old palm wine tapper, identified as Prince “On God,” has been arrested for allegedly setting fire to his girlfriend’s family house at Bibiani Subrinkwanta in the Western North Region after the family reportedly opposed their relationship.
The tragic incident resulted in the deaths of three people: 19-year-old Felicia, 61-year-old Maame Mary Oppong, and 22-year-old Dora Adoma Kudjo.
According to preliminary reports, the suspect is believed to have set the house ablaze following tensions with the family over his relationship with their daughter.
The fire quickly spread through the building, trapping the victims inside.
Personnel from the Ghana Police Service moved swiftly to arrest the suspect after the incident.
He is currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
