Ghanaian actress and media personality Xandy Kamel was left in tears after discovering that her newly released movie was being aired on local television station Fast TV without her knowledge or consent just two days after she uploaded it to her personal YouTube channel.

In a heartbreaking video that has since gone viral, Xandy could barely hold back her emotions as she described the betrayal she felt. 

According to her, she had poured not only her heart but also a substantial amount of money into producing the film hoping it would mark a major milestone in her creative journey.

“I feel so broken,” she said tearfully. “This is a project I invested so much in — financially, emotionally, everything — and to wake up and see it playing on television without my permission is just painful.”

The actress, known for her candid personality and emotional honesty, explained that she had only released the movie on YouTube two days earlier and was stunned when fans informed her that the same film was already airing on Fast TV.

Beyond her personal pain, Xandy raised a red flag about the broader issue of copyright abuse in Ghana’s creative industry. 

She made a passionate appeal to the National Film Authority and all relevant stakeholders to step in and protect filmmakers from such blatant intellectual property violations.

“I’m begging the National Film Authority — please help us. We can’t keep working so hard and having our works stolen like this. It’s discouraging,” she pleaded.

The incident has sparked a conversation online, with many in the entertainment industry and fans alike rallying behind Xandy, calling for stricter enforcement of copyright laws and better protection for content creators.

As Ghana’s film industry continues to grow, her emotional plea is a reminder that without strong structures to protect creatives, the industry’s future may be at risk.
