Ghanaian footballer Yaw Yeboah has been handed a lifetime ban from Major League Soccer following an investigation that found he violated the league’s strict gambling regulations.

According to MLS officials, Yaw Yeboah placed numerous bets on football matches during the 2024 and 2025 seasons, including wagers involving games played by his own team, an act considered a serious breach of the league’s integrity rules.

The investigation also uncovered that the former Ghana national football team winger bet on his teammate, Derrick Jones, to receive a yellow card in a match on October 19, 2024. Jones was subsequently booked during the game, further intensifying concerns over match integrity.

MLS described the violations as “extensive and deliberate,” leading to the league’s decision to impose the harshest possible sanction which is a lifetime ban from all MLS-related activities.

Yaw Yeboah, who previously played in the United States, has since moved abroad and currently plays club football for Chinese side Qingdao Hainiu.
