Following Ghana’s 2-4 defeat to Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, many Ghanaians have been left disappointed, while others say the result reflects the current state of the Black Stars.
One player who has come under significant pressure from fans following the defeat is midfielder Kwasi Sibo, who plays his club football in Libya.
Sibo was substituted at halftime after struggling to make an impact in the first half, with his performance attracting criticism from sections of the supporters.
A fan identified as Kofi Silicon, who was at the Accra Sports Stadium and seated next to the Black Stars’ assistant coach, has shared an account on X detailing what he observed concerning Sibo’s substitution.
“I was sitting next to the Black Stars Assistant Coach in the 1st half, and the way he was stressed every time Kwasi Sibo misplaced a pass was something else. 😭
He was also on the phone talking to the other coaching staff while in the stands.
He eventually left for the dressing room before halftime, and Sibo was later subbed off.
I even told him that I wanted a picture with him when we close, but our abysmal performance completely killed the mood. 😂
He never came back to his seat after halftime either! 🤨🇬🇭” He shared.
The defeat leaves Ghana with plenty of work to do in their bid to qualify for the upcoming AFCON tournament, having now lost their opening two matches against Ivory Coast and Gambia respectively.
