The Ghana Police Service has launched investigations into the deaths of three children at Kobilmahigu in the Northern Region after they were allegedly found dead inside an abandoned vehicle.
The children had reportedly been reported missing before their bodies were discovered in the vehicle, prompting police to commence investigations into the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has since deployed a special homicide investigation team to assist the Northern Regional Police Command in establishing what led to the deaths and identifying those responsible.
An autopsy conducted on the bodies has reportedly established that the children died from unnatural causes, although further investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances and cause of death.
The owner of the vehicle, identified as an immigration officer, has been arrested and is assisting the police with their investigations.
According to preliminary information, the vehicle had reportedly been stuck in mud for about five days before the bodies of the children were discovered inside.
Police say investigations remain ongoing as they work to piece together the events leading to the deaths and determine whether any individuals should be held criminally responsible.
